BUILDERS COUNSEL | WEDNESDAY, MAY 4, 2011 Let’s Wax Poetic On The Washington Public Contracting Process Every time I decide to write an article on a public contracting subject, I find that Mike has already done something on the topic. Washington provides several options for contract procurement. For instance, in one year, you might bid on a general solicitation project, a small works roster project, and a job order contracting project. BUILDERS COUNSEL | WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 2011 New Reciprocal Bidder Preference Law Becomes Effective In July 2011 Washington contractors may get a boost from preferential bid treatment. In that article, I addressed the passage of a bill that would allow the State of Washington, and its agencies, to apply a percentage bidding preference to resident contractors. Any nonresident contractor who’s home state offers them a bidding preference at home, would be given a reciprocal or similar disadvantage in Washington. Washington is on its way to a bidder preference law. But, will this law do what it’s intended to do? few months back, I posted on SB 5662.
