GREEN GODDESS | SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2009 On the Homefront Housing prices skyrocketed and people bought beyond their means, financed themselves with tantamount fraudulent lending practices, bought homes that frankly were badly built (green or otherwise) and participated in frenzy bidding wars that made one wonder if there was never going to be enough homes for anyone to live anywhere while simultaneously builder were building a rapid clip - so who do you believe? GREEN GODDESS | MONDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2009 The Party is Over Parry, a former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, was a director at Countrywide from 2004 to 2008. So let’s bid a not at all fond farewell to the Big Zero — the decade in which we achieved nothing and learned nothing. As the year and a decade closes I wonder if I should celebrate or take to the bed in hiding. want to look back at this decade and find a pocket of joy and well frankly that challenge is beyond me. GREEN GODDESS | TUESDAY, AUGUST 17, 2010 Traveling Green The Orchard Hotel in San Francisco is one such establishment and a friend stayed at a very green hotel in North Carolina recently. They are more luxurious and higher end but my personal favorite was the Good Hotel in San Francisco owned by Joie deVivre chain. When the Orchard Garden Hotel opened in San Francisco in 2006, it featured furniture made from sustainably grown wood.
