For many that means plenty of hiking, kayaking, cycling, tubing down the river, going to the beach, visiting new places, and lots of travel. In all honesty, while summer does not officially start until the 21st, it sure does. Not Dead Yet! | GREEN GODDESS JANUARY 6, 2012 Damned if You Do and if you Don't The myth that only if "you work hard" is clearly not the case nor even true as the article from the New York Times (reprinted below) illustrates. The Washington Post has an article showing that of all fields suffering for new degrees - Architecture is the highest. Liberal commentators have long emphasized class, but the attention on the right is largely new. | | | | | | | GREEN GODDESS AUGUST 22, 2011 The Age Old Question Certain cities are still managing to be massively over-valued with regards to Real Estate - San Francisco, New York and Seattle where I live are three such locations. WASHINGTON — Builders starting on new apartments are busier than ever these days as demand for rentals climbs and the once-sacrosanct American dream of home ownership fades. As a result its simply cheaper to rent. | CONSTRUCTION LIEN BLOG JUNE 21, 2010 Changes to Lien Law Pending in New Jersey and Michigan Legislatures BLOG HOME ORDER FROM ZLIEN CALCULATE DEADLINES June 22, 2010 Changes to Lien Law Pending in New Jersey and Michigan Legislatures Courts around the country are constantly construing the mechanic or construction lien laws, making compliance with these statutes sometimes feel like a moving target. A recent case out of the Washington Court of Appeals confirms this theory, which overturned a previous decision three years after-the-fact , to completely change the way liens must be signed by corporations in Washington state. Currently, two such bills are pending in New Jersey and Michigan. | GREEN GODDESS MARCH 25, 2009 Good Food is always Green The Sunday New York Times had two different articles responding to the Obama's new Victory/Recession/Green Garden. Standing next to Mario Battali and Gwenyth Paltrow would make anyone seem boring in comparison. It may feel better to eat an organic Oreo than a conventional Oreo, but, says Marion Nestle, a professor at New York University’s department of nutrition, food studies and public health, “Organic junk food is still junk food.” Now for all of us without the requisite Wellie's and shovels, or land either, what does that mean with regards to food? | GREEN GODDESS APRIL 18, 2009 Why buying local is not about "protectionism" It makes no sense when you are aware of how much these cost in comparison. It seems most likely that it's a nasty odor problem, as opposed to something acutely toxic," said Morton Lippmann, a professor of environmental medicine at New York University, who reviewed recent Florida health department's findings on Chinese drywall for The Wall Street Journal. Drywall problems are also surfacing in the New Orleans area, in homes that were refurbished after Hurricane Katrina. Well in some ways it is. And it is what it is. Ikea North America is NOT the Ikea Europe. Two U.S. | | | | | | | | | -
GREEN GODDESS | THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 2009 The Emerald City wins again! Accused often of being from New York as I have an "accent" and talk fast. No, Seattle always was an expensive city with small neighborhoods that well weren't exactly on comparison to those of San Francisco and Manhattan, despite whatever a Seattleite will tell you. This year, singular bright ideas have earned 12 other cities -- Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Houston, Malmö, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Taipei, Tucson, and Vancouver -- places on our honor roll. It declared Seattle the MOST CREATIVE CITY OF THE YEAR. have to agree. MORE >> -
GREEN GODDESS | THURSDAY, JULY 9, 2009 Stimulate This!!! Today the New York Times found that this is just the case with many projects going unfunded and others simply not making any sense in relation to dollars and jobs in many states. According to an analysis by The New York Times of 5,274 transportation projects approved so far — the most complete look yet at how states plan to spend their stimulus money — the 100 largest metropolitan areas are getting less than half the money from the biggest pot of transportation stimulus money. New York City is expecting $261 million of the highway stimulus money. MORE >> -
GREEN GODDESS | MONDAY, JULY 13, 2009 Mysterious Ways The heads of the Canadian and Italian national banks are Goldman alums, as is the head of the World Bank, the head of the New York Stock Exchange, the last two heads of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York — which, incidentally, is now in charge of overseeing Goldman — not to mention … But then, any attempt to construct a narrative around all the former Goldmanites in influential positions quickly becomes an absurd and pointless exercise, like trying to make a list of everything. Treasury or maybe the state of New Jersey. Period. Just make it. percent. MORE >> -
GREEN GODDESS | TUESDAY, JULY 14, 2009 Turning Chinese I really think so. Today the New York Times discusses how in their quest dominate this emerging industry they manage to circumvent any outside country's bids by a myriad of bizarre qualifications and demands that enable them to select only Chinese contractors. By comparison, T. But no new Chinese renewable energy regulations have been issued since then on local content requirements or other rules. I recall as a kid we feared the Japanese. For a period they captivated the world with their Auto manufacturing, their electronics and their education. The latest is in renewable energy. MORE >> -
GREEN GODDESS | WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2009 Thanks for what.the memories? On the eve of this Thanksgiving I am trying hard to think about what to be thankful for and frankly that list is light at best but in comparison to some it could be worse. This mornings New York Times covers the loss of homes by those facing enormous medical bills. My premiums are going up the first of the year in response to new state legislation regarding organ transplants. Have new economic and social realities so altered the playing field that we need to reevaluate how we keep score? Thankfully I have stuff to sell. The numbers are not good. Wow just wow!
