The research, carried out among 1,200 British workers and commissioned by Train4TradeSkills, also discovered that only 39% are in their ideal job. Workers in leisure and hospitality are some of the most satisfied, with 27% of workers in this sector agreeing they are very satisfied with their job, followed by 24% in manufacturing and IT. | TRAIN4TRADESKILLS MARCH 8, 2012 Council Contractors to Create New Building and Construction Jobs Building work will begin in June this year, creating new jobs and boosting the local economy. Portfolio holder for housing, Cllr Ann Webb, shared a great deal of optimism about the project which will bring real benefits to the whole area by creating new jobs and helping the local community. Stevenage Borough Council has signed a £26 million housing redevelopment scheme to modernise and improve thousands of council houses in the town by the end of 2015. The Council has invested a total of £33 million on home improvements. Here’s what the study found for the Midlands: London, UK – 17 November 2011 – A study into the career satisfaction of British workers has revealed the West Midlands is a region of job-lovers, with 79% agreeing they are satisfied in their current job. The young players may struggle to break into Man City’s first team and oust the likes of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and David Silva, but at least the new training centre will create new jobs. 160 new construction jobs are set to be created, with the majority (70%) of jobs for local people. UK construction firms travel to Libya to help rebuild war-torn country. collection of UK construction firms have travelled to Libya to discuss rebuilding the country’s infrastructure and economy, which has been damaged or destroyed by months of civil war in the country. Trade and Investment Minister Lord Green went to the Libyan capital Tripoli, along with construction firms Arup, AMEC, Mott Macdonald, as well as oil giants BP and Shell, to meet with the National Transitional Council (NTC), to discuss the rebuilding of Libya. TRAIN4TRADESKILLS | WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2012 Construction Engineering Workers on Demand The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has revealed a survey today showing engineering and construction professionals have become the most sought workers in the UK. However, the highest increase in hiring full-time employees has been in the construction engineering sector which hired more people due to recent infrastructure projects and the substantial government investment into such projects. Amongst the engineering, construction and IT sectors demand for permanent staff has increased since the turn of the year.
