The Treasury will pump the cash into a special time-limited ‘introductory’ offer to boost the early take up of the Government’s Green Deal energy scheme. Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne said: “This big injection of Government funding delivers on our promise to ensure the Green Deal hits the ground running, and make it as attractive as possible so that people start to benefit from day one.”. Siteserv is being sold in a deal which will see its infrastructure business including scaffolding arm Deborah Services get new owners. The operations are being bought by an acquisition vehicle called Millington set-up by entrepreneur Denis O’Brien for the deal. The completed deal will see Sitserv wound down as a publicly quoted company and any proceeds left after its debts are paid will go to shareholders. The Green Deal: the government’s jewel in their environmentally-friendly crown. It may lead to a cleaner, zero-carbon future, but it seems that the Green Deal isn’t the most popular thing amongst contractors. new survey undertaken by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) has found that 44% of its members believe homeowners won’t take advantage of the Green Deal, which could lead to fewer jobs for contractors. The new Energy Secretary Edward Davey has pledged to continue with the Green Deal, a policy which could support up to 65,000 jobs in the renewable energy sector. Speaking at a meeting with key industry leaders in London today, the Energy Secretary explained that the Green Deal is a vital policy not only for the environment, but also for economic growth and job creation across Britain. He said: “The Green Deal will play a huge part in this work and will also support jobs in the insulation and construction industries– as many as 65,000 right across the country by 2015. MORE >>
