APRIL 29, 2011 The Not-So-Deconstructed House
Having lived in the Bay Area over the last 10 years it is where I became acquainted with and a strong advocate of the deconstructed and reclaimed house. knew of one individual using only salvaged and donated items to build her home in what has to be one of the most expensive areas in which to live. APRIL 29, 2011 On-Site Welding: A Good Financial Investment?
Onsite welding, or mobile welding, is when welders bring their talents to the client instead of having the customer come to a workshop to get welding services. HOME BUILDING Sites We Like – Guide Me Green
| FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 2011
We started in 2005 as a green directory and then added an ethical directory and article site. We have then removed directories and added a green job board as we tinkered with what works best for our members. From 2005 until 2008 we saw massive growth in the organic and fair-trade sectors as eco companies sprung up all over the place with green websites. From 2008 as the world recession hit we have seen a slow down in the growth and a number of fair-trade shopping and ethical companies listed in GuideMeGreen have sadly finished trading and closed down. - Taking the opposite direction: The built-in Unique Selling Proposition
I admire businesses which, in the marketplace context, are different. Consider metal recycling businesses such as Peel Scrap Metal Recycling in Mississauga, Ontario, in the Greater Toronto Area. They chose to advertise in our regional construction publication not to sell, but to buy. When you go to their “store , you bring in stuff and they give you cash. Definitely this is the opposite of what most advertisers seek to have happen, but of course, in the scrap metal business, the rules of the game are different. Logical, eh. You have two choices in this environment. MORE >>

All that construction in SLU got them a LEED certification. Well Round 1 of the NFL draft has come to a close. As usual, my Cleveland Browns offered up a mixed bag, passing on highly-ranked superstars to stash picks and then trading up to take an overweight lineman who might not last as long as his first contract. Standard Browns. So, I had to wake up today shaking my head in confusion, doubt and concern. Thanks to South Lake Union, I had a reason to turn that blank look into a smile. Washington got its first LEED Neighborhood. The SLU is a pretty incredible place. MORE >>
