What young people don’t realize is that a plumber or journeyman electrician makes more than 4-year college graduates and they don’t have all those student loans to pay off. There’s a lot of talk about manufacturing jobs continuing to go away in this country. But when I talk to manufacturers, one of the biggest issues they talk about domestically is finding qualified help. Apprentice programs for tool and die makers are shrinking due to lack of interest. | PLUMBER TALK SEPTEMBER 27, 2012 Outside Drain Care: The Root of the Problem Licensed Journeyman Plumber. Licensed Electrician, HVAC/R. Our office is located in a nice facility on the top of a hill near I-5, but our last office was on the edge of the suburbs in Lynnwood, Washington in a small industrial park that got ‘Grand-fathered in’. Because of that, the infrastructure was not the greatest. As a matter of fact, our neighbor was a small manufacturing facility that worked for Boeing, and any time it rained, their loading dock area got flooded. Funny… but it wouldn’t have been funny if a small child had fallen in and drowned. When it comes to the safety of our families, there is no safe way to cut corners or pretend. Because it’s a fact that gas appliances are vital to us AND cause more than 4 people each week in the U.S. to die from CO poisoning, we think safeguards are as necessary and basic as seat belts. Carbon Monoxide poisoning is a very real danger any time an appliance burns fossil fuels. Unintentional CO exposure accounts for an estimated 15,000 emergency department visits and 500 unintentional deaths in the United States each year. | PLUMBER TALK JANUARY 24, 2012 What’s that Smell? The Care and Feeding of Your Garbage Disposer Licensed Journeyman Plumber. Licensed Electrician, HVAC/R. Are less than fragrant fragrances emanating from your kitchen? Don’t blame the chef. It could be your garbage disposer. As the new year and a new quarter start, I thought I’d mention something I do at the beginning of every quarter…clean my Garbage Disposer. Many people don’t ever think of cleaning the garbage disposer, and then wonder why that side of the sink often smells so sour. The main thing to understand is that there are no blades or knives of any kind that ‘chop things up’, in any garbage disposer. | | | | | | | | | -

The Twins. “I must have stepped over her three or four times. She was sleeping just fine…so I thought. guess I was pressing my luck with that elkhound, because when I stepped over her for the fourth time she woke up with a start, and clamped onto my calf. couldn’t get her to let loose. She didn’t puncture the skin, but it took the homeowner, their friend, and me, several excruciating minutes to get her to let go. That was more than fifteen years ago, and it’s really made a difference. Simple. MORE >> -

Licensed Electrician, HVAC/R. “Spring forward, Fall back” – We learned this as kids to help us remember how to change our clocks from standard to Day-light Savings time. Now that I’m in the Plumbing / Heating / Cooling business, I have a new saying this time of year, “Spring Into Maintenance”. can tell you from experience it’s well worth remembering. Many of us have a tough time doing or even ‘embracing’ the importance of regular maintenance because we just don’t know what is needed. Either make the investment, or pay for not knowing. MORE >>
