From NY Times | Making History In a Brooklyn Neighborhood When Habitat for Humanity New York City consulted an architecture firm on its new site in the Ocean Hill section of Brownsville, Brooklyn , it received a response that switched on a light bulb. The result, nearly three years and one entirely new development model later, is the largest creation in Habitat’s history, an $11.6 And the city’s branch of Habitat just learned last week that it will receive about $10.5 | HTRC DECEMBER 26, 2010 Safety Sunday: Ahhh, bye-bye Christmas From DC up to New York, & even here in Alabama many contractors and others found out that a dry heat can quite simply kick. For many that means plenty of hiking, kayaking, cycling, tubing down the river, going to the beach, visiting new places, and lots of travel. In all honesty, while summer does not officially start until the 21st, it sure does. GREEN GODDESS | MONDAY, APRIL 11, 2011 Down the Up Staircase New Boards and new Municipalities and new Government plans that change every few years also add to the mix. Imagine,” said a public school teacher in New York City, who asked that I not use his name, “going to work each day knowing a great deal of what you are doing is fraudulent, knowing in no way are you preparing your students for life in an ever more brutal world, knowing that if you don’t continue along your scripted test prep course and indeed get better at it you will be out of a job. left Education years ago for many reasons. GREEN GODDESS | THURSDAY, JULY 9, 2009 Stimulate This!!! Today the New York Times found that this is just the case with many projects going unfunded and others simply not making any sense in relation to dollars and jobs in many states. Not shocking given our Mayor's disengagement from the larger picture outside the City of Seattle. The council’s own research suggests that a quarter of the new buildings that have been certified do not save as much energy as their designs predicted and that most do not track energy consumption once in use. The plaque should be installed with removable screws,” said Henry Gifford, an energy consultant in New York City. MORE >> -

GREEN GODDESS | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2009 Green Walls the new "green" I read this article today and thought "oh here we go the newest trend, green walls are the new black" (using that eponymous fashion term semingly appropriate). Like Green Roofs I like them aesthetically and principally in Cities and Urban areas where anything green is at a premium. And given our state of Education no wonder change is the new socialism. So enjoy this year's new black in the green fashioned world. Next week I am sure something new will come along. Buildings can be attractive, practical and efficient.
